Do I need to fast or do I require any special preparation before my lab test?
Some blood tests do require fasting prior to having your blood drawn to assure the accuracy of the results.  This may involve fasting (not eating any or certain foods) for several hours or even overnight, or avoiding certain medications, vitamins or herbal supplements before the test.  Please contact your health care provider to determine his or her requirements for your specific testing.  If you are delivering a specimen to the lab, there might be special instructions for transporting the specimen.

Can I request my own laboratory tests?  Individuals cannot order tests themselves from us due to state regulatory requirements, but if you are interested in having a specific laboratory test performed please ask your health care provider if the test is appropriate for you and if he/she can order the test for you.

How long does it take to receive test results?
Depending on the test performed, most tests are completed and reported to your ordering health care provider within or about 24 hours of receiving the sample for testing.  Certain tests take several days to weeks.  Results are sent directly to the ordering health care professional.

Can I receive a copy of my blood test results?
The test results are always reported directly to your physician.  You may obtain a copy by requesting your physician.  If you wish to receive a copy directly from the lab, ask your physician to indicate a release request on the requisition form.
